Being introduced in 2008 in the large family car segment as a replacement for the Vectra, being a cheaper choice than VW Passat and a better one than the Ford Focus, the Insignia from Opel will get a facelift on the upcoming 2012 model.
The “new” Insignia will have a redesigned front fascia, as you can see in the picture, with front bumper lights which now form a vertical column under the headlights. Even though it isn’t very different from the generation currently cruising the streets, we can’t ignore a slight resemble with the recent Ampera and Zafira models.
Even though details about future engine modifications aren’t officially known we expect the 2012 Insignia to get the same Euro 5 engines, the petrol-running, 1.6 liters and 115 horsepower, 1.8 liters and 140 HP, 1.6 liters and 180 HP and the top of the line 2.8 liters V6 which is developing 260 HP and the turbo-diesels like the 2.0 liters with 110 and 160 HP and a 2.0 liters 190 HP.
New 140PS 1.4i 16v VVT Turbo Start/Stop Petrol engine
Vauxhall is pleased to announce the arrival of a new 140PS 1.4i 16v VVT Turbo petrol engine with Start/Stop and emissions of just 129g/km for Model Year 2012.*1 Compared to the existing 1.8i 16v VVT, the new engine provides:
28% reduction in CO2 to 129g/km for the hatchback & saloon with a 26.5% reduction for Sports Tourer*1
25% Improved Fuel efficiency: 51.4mpg on combined cycle
Lower VED: £0 first year (1.8i 16v VVT, £315) and £90 standard rate (1.8i 16v VVT, £210)
Lower Class 1A National Insurance Contributions
Significantly reduced BiK from 24% to 15% in 2011/12 Tax Year*3
Further Start/Stop Introduction
In addition to the 2.0CDTi 16v ecoFLEX and new 1.4i 16v VVT Turbo petrol models, Start/Stop technology is introduced to the 2.0i 16v Turbo and the 2.0CDTi 16v 4x4 Manual variants. These new Start/Stop models further improve both combined fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions of the Insignia range. Further improvements are gained though under-body aero-dynamic measures, the fit of low rolling resistance tyres and engine refinement in combination with the Start/Stop technology.
Where vehicles do not receive Start/Stop functionality, fuel efficiency gains and CO2 reductions have also been achieved.
