The German based automaker Opel is planning to release a Corsa based SUV at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show which will be named the Mokka.
According to the German automotive journalists at autobild.de, Opel will develop a small SUV based on the popular Corsa hatchback, which will wear the Mokka name and it will be officially presented at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Opel isn’t actually the first automaker to develop an SUV on the same platform as a small hatchback in its lineup and not too long ago, Ford has teased the EcoSport SUV, which is based on the Fiesta model. Ford says that the EcoSport will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 Delhi Auto Show, so the North American carmaker is moving faster than Opel.
The Opel Mokka Corsa based SUV will be 4.30 meters long and it will come with an all-wheel drive system at an extra cost. The Opel Corsa SUV will be rounder than the Skoda Yeti SUV and it’s aimed at the cheap VW offshoot. Our source is also telling us that the Opel Mokka will be priced at around 18.000 EUR for the entry-level version, which actually undercuts the Skoda model by around 1.000 EUR.
